Fortnite planning to fix Creative mode controller input delay issue soon

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

After a lengthy period of complaining from the community, Fortnite has finally responded to one of its biggest issues. For around a week, players who use a controller have been experiencing some less than favorable conditions in Creative mode. Essentially, Creative has a huge controller input delay in any mode players attempt to play. Whether it be Box Fighting or Zone Wars or just standard Creative, controllers aren’t responding normally. However, FortniteStatus on Twitter has released a statement saying Epic Games is aware of the problem and plans to fix it by the middle of next week at the latest.

Controller input delay in Creative mode

If you’re unaware of what controller input delay is, it’s basically where Fortnite, or any game, doesn’t respond to what you do on the controller. So, for example, in Fortnite, if you try to place a wall or edit a structure, the game will take extra time to perform that action.

This can be extremely frustrating if you’re playing a competitive mode such as Zone Wars. You go to place a wall and Fortnite doesn’t place the wall until 3-4 seconds after you hit your controller input. However, there is a fix coming in the next update.

If you don’t want to wait any longer to play Creative with a controller, there are some immediate fixes. Although, the fixes set forth by Fortnite on their Trello board aren’t exactly groundbreaking. In short, Fortnite suggests either restarting Creative mode or opening and closing the menu. There are reports this works for a short while but doesn’t fix the problem entirely.

If you want to play Creative mode with a controller effectively, it seems you’ll have to wait on the next update to do so. As aforementioned, that should be arriving by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
