The Fortnite Season 5, Week 4 challenges are now live, and we have another handy guide ready to help you with the grind. As with previous weeks, there are three challenges for players without the Battle Pass and an additional four for those who own the pass.
Once again, completing any four of this week’s challenges earns players an additional 5,000 season XP. Completing all of the week’s challenges furthers a player’s progress with the ongoing Road Trip challenge. This unlocks a loading screen which, aside from making load times more bearable, also reveals the location of a hidden Battle Star in-game.
But first, this week’s challenges are as follows:
Free Challenges
- Build Structures (0/250)
- Jump through flaming hoops with a Shopping Cart or ATK (0/5)
- Eliminate players in Dusty Divot (HARD) (0/3) – Hard
Battle Pass Challenges
- Deal damage with Sniper Rifles to opponents (0/500)
- Search chests in Flush Factory (0/7)
- Search between a gas station, soccer pitch, and Stunt Mountain (0/1) – Hard
- Pistol Eliminations (0/3) – Hard
We’re using a slightly different presentation format for this week’s guide. After you’ve completed all of the challenges, be sure to come back and let us know what helped and what didn’t!
Build Structures
For the first free challenge of Season 5, Week 4, Epic encourages players to embrace the creative side of Fortnite. Relatively straightforward, players need to build 250 structures. For reference, each of the four building shapes – walls, floors, stairs, and roofs – use 10 resources each, regardless of which material is being used. The total count for the challenge, however, is in reference to the objects built, not the materials. So you’ll need to use a total of 2,500 materials to complete this challenge. Fortunately, this is not limited to a single match. This should be achieved by naturally playing the game, but if you’re having trouble, hop into the 50v50 LTM. I’ve found that structures built by teammates count toward your individual challenge, so sit back and let strangers do the work for you.
Jump through flaming hoops with a Shopping Cart or ATK
This week’s next challenge is a bit more unique, embracing the zanier aspects of the battle royale title. To earn five more Battle Stars, players must jump through flaming hoops with a Shopping Cart or ATK. Five, to be precise. In the past, Epic has included similar challenges which required players to float through hoops in the air. This week’s challenge follows the same principle but instead utilizes the vehicles added to the game. Using either the two-person shopping cart or four-seated ATK, players must locate and travel through five flaming hoops located in different locations across the map.
Fortunately, most of these locations have one or the other vehicle nearby the hoop. Also, most locations have some sort of jump or ramp leading up to the hoop. For those that don’t, such as the one above the toilet tower in Flush Factory, players need to build a ramp. This is accomplished most easily in the 50v50 game mode, where at least players can travel without the worry of constant enemy contact. Check out the map below for where to locate some of the hoops, and be sure to let us know if you find more.
Unfortunately, Epic temporarily disabled use of the Shopping Cart and ATK on Friday, August 3 due to a glitch. This is likely to prevent any unnecessary server difficulties during this weekend’s Summer Skirmish tournament. Expect the vehicles to be back in the game soon thereafter.
Eliminate players in Dusty Divot
Lastly, to complete this week’s three free challenges, players must eliminate players in Dusty Divot. These eliminations do not need to be in the same match, so take your time. If you’re confident in your skills, drop directly in the Divot for a high-intensity start to your match. Ever since this week’s challenges went live, the central zone has been a hot spot of activity, with plenty of players rushing to complete their eliminations. Otherwise, land outside of Dusty Divot, find some powerful loot, and make your way into the crater to eliminate stragglers, likely weak from early confrontations.
As with other challenges, players may find these eliminations easier to complete in the 50v50 mode, as there is less focus on individual players. Furthermore, the circle tends to close either above or near this location, so there is a lot of foot traffic in the area. Remember that as of Season 5, this location is now filled with fresh vegetation, ponds, and towering trees. Use the environment to your advantage and take cover when possible.
Deal Damage with Sniper Rifles to opponents
Moving forward, the first of the Battle Pass challenges is another straightforward task. Players need to deal damage with Sniper Rifles to opponents. For this challenge, eliminations are not necessary, so long as the player deals 500 cumulative damage over the course of any number of matches. Both the bolt-action and semi-auto snipers count for this challenge, as well as the hunting rifle.
When aiming at opponents, be sure to compensate for bullet drop. While this may seem like an obvious comment to players familiar with other shooting games, the majority of weapons in Fortnite rely on hit-scan. This means the bullets collide with wherever your crosshair is pointing, albeit with a slightly randomized damage based on bullet bloom. However, sniper rifles are one of the few categories of weapons in Fortnite which do compensate for distance, so if you’re shooting over 50 meters, be sure to aim a bit higher.
Search chests in Flush Factory
Another week, another objective to search chests. This week, players must search 7 chests in Flush Factory. As with previous challenges where the chests are location-based, this does not need to be accomplished in a single match. Contrary to my advice for most of the other challenges, I would not advise attempting this challenge in 50v50. In my experience, this is a high-profile landing zone in this mode. While you may be safe from the immediate danger of opponents, you’ll have to compete with numerous teammates who undoubtedly will also land at Flush Factory. Instead, hop into Solo play and use the map above, courtesy of the ever-helpful community member Squatingdog, to help guide you.
A quick route I’ve used is to aim for the chest on top of the toilet tower. From there, drop down and run west toward the chest that’s on the vehicle’s trunk, then swing further south in a counter-clockwise motion to grab the two chests in shipping containers. This should give you a good headstart while also circling around potential enemies.
Search between a gas station, soccer pitch, and Stunt Mountain
Next, we have the weekly treasure hunt. Once players search between a gas station, soccer pitch, and Stunt Mountain, they are awarded a bonus Battle Star. This is in addition to the five received for completing the challenge itself. Unlike some of the previous challenges, there is no accompanying treasure map to find first. Perhaps Epic realizes that the majority of players research the solution, thus making the map redundant. Regardless, this week’s hidden Battle Star can be found to the northwest of Tilted Towers but south of Pleasant Park. It’s at the base of a thin white tree in square C4 on the map’s coordinate grid. If you’d prefer a visual guide, check out the video below. As with previous searches, you must complete the match upon finding the star, so don’t quit back to the lobby right away.
Pistol Eliminations & clean up
The last Battle Pass challenge is also straightforward, despite being marked as Hard. To unlock the final ten Battle Stars, players need 3 Pistol eliminations. Depending on your preferred style of play, there are a number of approaches that will complete this challenge. Players can use the standard pistol, available in common, uncommon, and rare rarities. This is a basic but reliable option. Moving up the scale, the silenced pistols, available as epic and legendary items, shoot faster and more quietly than their standard counterparts. Either of these weapons is a good choice for mid-range encounters.
Meanwhile, the dual pistols, which are also available as either epic or legendary variants, are ideal for close-range battles. These weapons shoot more slowly but pack a more significant punch. In fact, some players prefer these in place of shotguns, especially following the recent nerfs to the once-dominant boomsticks. Lastly, for those of you who are in the sniping mood, the epic or legendary hand cannon, modeled after a Desert Eagle, has you covered. Like the dual pistols, this weapon shoots slowly, but it has the furthest range of all pistols and deals a great amount of damage.
That wraps up this week’s challenges. Once the dust settles, you’ll have an extra 50 Battle Stars, raising you five full tiers, and an extra 5,000 XP. Plus, don’t forget the new loading screen you unlock. This reveals the location of a hidden Battle Star on the map, so happy hunting! In case you’re playing catch up from previous weeks, be sure to check out our other guides. Otherwise, enjoy this weekend’s Summer Skirmish, and we’ll see you next week!
