A new Fortnite datamine has revealed over a dozen upcoming skins, pickaxes, emotes, and backblings. Furthermore, new updates are live for the TomatoHead skin. Each time a new Fortnite patch goes live, the game’s community is quick to scour the files and leak any new data. Despite the delay of this week’s patch from Tuesday to Thursday, fans were as swift as ever with their datamine. True to form, a wealth of unveiled content followed less than an hour after the official patch notes were revealed.
Datamined Skins
Eleven skins were revealed by Lucas7yoshi on the official Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit today. While the cost and rarity of these skins is still unknown, we can make a few logical assumptions. The first skin in the second row looks to be another “Starter Pack” skin. These are intended for new players, cost $4.99 USD, and include a few extra V-Bucks.
Meanwhile, the fourth skin in the second row is the long-awaited Roadtrip skin. This is unlocked by fully completing seven weeks of challenges, and will finally be obtainable when the Season 5, Week 7 challenges go live tomorrow.
Update to the TomatoHead Skin
In an unprecedented update, one of the existing paid skins is receiving its own set of challenges and a new style. Revealed by Reddit user samohtxotom, the TomatoHead skin now has its own unique list of challenges. Completing this unlocks a style variant which depicts the skin with a crown and ritualistic markings. This is the first in a series of updates to TomatoHead and Tomato Town, with the others described below. Clearly, Epic Games has something big planned for this fan-favorite skin.
Datamined Emotes
Five new emotes are also coming to the game soon. While we don’t know what they look like in action quite yet, one in particular is of immediate interest. As with Season 4’s overarching narrative following the Visitor, it seems Season 5 is doubling down on Tomato Town and the related Tomato Head skin. This new “Praise The Tomato” emote, in addition to the skin reworking and the map update explained below, supports this narrative.
Datamined Week 7 and Week 8 loading screens
Furthermore, two week’s worth of loading screens have been revealed. The top image is unlocked by completing the Week 7 challenges, which go live tomorrow. As mentioned earlier, completing these challenges, in combination with all of the previous ones, will unlock the Roadtrip skin. If you need to catch up on challenges, our Week 6 guide is available here.
The second image is for the Week 8 challenges, but that is still a minimum of a week away. However, this leak is notable for the location it displays. Until today, this location has never been seen before. In fact, it doesn’t resemble any other location on the map. That’s because it represents an impending update to Tomato Town, leaked below.
Datamine reveals Tomato Town rework, new temple
Usually, Fortnite leaks reveal cosmetic items, like those listed above. Loading screens, unlocked by completing each week’s challenges, are also frequently datamined. However, this week’s leak reveals more than just cosmetic changes. A deeper dive into the data shows an upcoming map update. Although the launch of Season 5 introduced the most changes to the game’s map thus far, there haven’t been any major changes since then.
This is set to change with a reworking of the Tomato Town point-of-interest. Once again, this was posted to Reddit early this morning. The location, once a small town without much of note, is set to be replaced by a large temple paying homage to TomatoHead. What this means for the overall narrative of Season 5, or for the other locations, remains a mystery.
Datamined backblings, pickaxes, and gliders
Continuing with their amazing work, user Lucas7yoshi also posted leaked backblings, pickaxes, and gliders. As with the other cosmetics included in this datamine, we’re not sure when these items will be available or for what cost. However, based on the aesthetic similarities of some items, we can reasonably assume which sets will go together.
That’s it! It’s quite the doozy of reveals for Fortnite fans. Do you have a favorite skin or item shown today? What’s next for this new saga regarding TomatoHead and Tomato Town? Share your thoughts below and be sure to check back for tomorrow’s Week 7 challenge guide.
