The most important part of competitive Fortnite is payments. Everyone loves to play in events such as the Fortnite World Cup and Trios Cash Cup. The drive to succeed is fueled by the lucrative prize pool. Obviously, players want to prove themselves, but the popularity of these events stems from dollar signs. Each week of World Cup Qualifiers had $1 million in prizes available. The last two weeks had double that. Additionally, the first trios tournament, Trios Cash Cup, is seeing a $1 million global prize pool. Daily Esports explains how to get paid for Fortnite competitions.

How to get paid

First, a player must be eligible to participate in the events. The main requirement is to be at least 13 years old. Next, the player needs to place high enough within a tournament. The placement required to earn money varies by event and region. The regions with larger populations have a larger prize pool. Check out the Fortnite competitive event page for more details.

After a player competes in an event and places in a prized position, then they must provide Epic Games with payment information. Previously, the system ran through Epic Games and PayPal. Now, Epic Games partners with Hyperwallet, a PayPal company, to handle all payments. For events prior to the World Cup, players must go through the old process. Either way, a player will receive an email from Epic Games asking to verify the account and player information. Epic requests to provide player contact and tax information. Next, the player receives an email from Hyperwallet. If adverse to submitting information through email, competitors may provide Epic Games the contact info at this location and Hyperwallet info at this location.

Using Hyperwallet should expedite the payments. The company works to help businesses provide mass payouts. Epic Games plans to continue to host tournaments. Payouts for the tournaments are complicated due to the variety of ages, payment methods, locations, and tax laws. It is promising to see Epic Games work with Hyperwallet. It reaffirms to players that the company’s commitment is to competitions.
