Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 3: Could a Fortnite FPS mode be coming?

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite fans are mere hours away from getting their hands on the long-awaited Chapter 2 – Season 3. The community may have gotten a taste of what the new season will feature after The Device event yesterday. There are huge waves, sharks, and additional new mechanics now on the Fortnite map. However, the community is more so talking about a leak that arose as a result of the event. According to many players, The Device event was so intense that it turned on first-person mode. Whether this is a glitch or possible leak is up in the air, but most fans want the latter to be true — they want a Fortnite FPS mode.

First-person mode in Fortnite Season 3?

The idea of first-person in Fortnite is not new. There have been countless concepts drawn up and even created in Creative Mode. However, it’s widely thought that FPS mode in Fortnite wouldn’t work due to the building side of things. It would be fairly hard to build if you didn’t have a 360-degree camera angle.

Though, this roadblock may not matter to Epic Games. During The Device event, a few lucky players unwillingly went into FPS mode. This was exactly what it sounds like, a first-person camera in Fortnite.

While many fans’ first guess is that this is some kind of glitch, we aren’t so quick to judge. After all, this camera angle looks fairly advanced for it to be a glitch. The textures on the weapons are loaded and the player in the clip is even knocked back when firing the pistol.

Furthermore, the swimming in first-person doesn’t look bugged at all. In fact, it looks somewhat fluid, signaling that this is something Epic Games could be working on behind the scenes. Of course, this is all conjecture and we won’t know anything official until Epic decides to comment. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if an FPS mode came sometime during Season 3.
