The time has come. Epic Games announced the next season of Fortnite will release on Thursday, Feb. 20. Initially, the developers stated that Chapter 2 – Season 2 would be dropped in early February. This is the second extension of the season. A typical Fortnite season lasts about six-to-10 weeks. Chapter 2 began on Oct. 15 and is well past the usual season length. The delays appear to be for good reason though. Epic Games did not share much, but one big change is the migration to a new physics engine. Epic’s new gaming engine is the Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics engine. According to the announcement, the developers hope to keep Fortnite the same during the change. Chaos physics will be implemented in early February with the 11.50 update.

More Overtime Challenges, a new engine, and secrets

Epic Games did not share a lot of information with the players. Based on the delays, Chapter 2 – Season 2 looks to hold some incredible new changes and content. While most people are hesitant to change, Epic Games continuously pushes gaming forward, and the new season promises to provide many surprises and improvements. The Chaos physics engine in particular appears to be an upgrade for Fortnite. Take a look at some gameplay of the engine.

Will the Chaos engine bring collapsible buildings? What other changes will Epic Games bring out?

As for the remainder of Chapter 2 – Season 1, players can expect more Overtime Challenges and a “two-week event.” More announcements are expected in the coming days to clarify what exactly the challenges and the event are. Until then, Fortnite still hosts Hype Nites on Friday and Saturday nights. Additionally, there are two Solo Cash Cups each week on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 surprises

One player’s guess is as good as another’s guess about what is in store. Players should look forward to the changes, regardless of when they are released.
