Fortnite Champion Series returns for Chapter 2 – Season 2

Grab a partner because Epic Games has announced that the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) is returning March 20. This time around, there are some specific qualifications for players looking to participate, so let’s see what’s different in Chapter 2 – Season 2.

For players looking to participate in the FNCS, there are some qualifications that need to be met. First and foremost, players will need to have reached Champion League as well as have enabled two-factor authentication on their account. One of those two is much easier than the other.

While players have a limited amount of time to prepare — only about 10 days as of this writing — Fortnite has some training opportunities. A training simulation will open up on March 13 and run until March 15 players to fine-tune their partnership. Players can also use this time to make sure they are caught up on the Week 3 Deadpool-themed challenge.

The Fortnite Champion Series Breakdown

In Season 2, the FNCS will have two distinct tournaments. The first will be exclusively for PC players, while the other will be for both console and mobile players. Each tournament will have the same prizes while having two separate tournament champions. The important part of this is that your partner must be in the same tournament. A player on mobile cannot partner up with someone on PC.

Each week the top-scoring team for each server region will get an invitation to the Season Finals. The highest-ranked Duos players for the overall Series Leaderboard for the whole season will also get an invitation to the Season Finals. Each team will have to acquire enough points to qualify for the next week, with each week eliminating players.

The FNCS starts on March 20 for the first week’s tournament. Week 2 begins March 27, week 3 starts April 3, and April 10 is the start of week 4. The Season Finals all happen April 17, with the Champion Series Grand Finals on April 19. The dates for each week can vary depending on the region, so if you are unsure when your region starts, you can check out the full rules.

Players can earn weekly cash prizes, split between both partners, which can vary depending on the region and tournament group. The teams that make it to the finals will have the opportunity to win up to $44,000 depending on the region.

At the end of the announcement, Epic Games teased more to come, saying “In addition to the new Season, expect to hear more from us soon on our evolving 2020 competitive roadmap.” What does that mean for the future of Fortnite? No one knows quite yet, but it’s bound to be good.
