The Florida Mayhem signed American flex support player Rupal “Rupal” Zaman, along with moving Park “KariV” Young-seo in a coaching capacity, on Wednesday. At the same time, the Mayhem released Australian off-tank Adam “Adam” Soong.

Rupal’s path to the Mayhem
Rupal started his Overwatch esports career back in 2020, in the Open Division scene. It wasn’t until he joined Revival in NA Contenders that he started to make his mark, winning both Contenders Trials and the NA Contenders season in March of 2021.
After a successful stretch in Contenders, Rupal moved to Redbird Esports and the collegiate Overwatch scene. Results with that team since early 2022 have been mixed, winning some cups but only finishing fourth in the collegiate championship.
Now, Rupal can play with two former NA Contenders opponents of his in Isaiah “Hydron” Rodriguez and Majed “SirMajed” Alrashied.
KariV’s move to coach, Adam’s release
Due to SirMajed’s performance so far in 2022, KariV has gotten next to no playtime in Overwatch 2. According to the Florida Mayhem’s Twitter post regarding this move, it was KariV himself who wanted to move to coaching. Now, SirMajed and Rupal will fight for the flex support role as Jung “Anamo” Tae-sung plays main support.
As for Adam, his position on the team started promising but faded over time. This had nothing to do with Adam’s performance in their games, more so with how good and flexible tank Ham “SOMEONE” Jeong-wan turned out to be. As SOMEONE started to become a player the Mayhem couldn’t swap out, Adam’s role got smaller. So, like his time with the Los Angeles Vealiant, Adam was released relatively quickly.
The team now head into the Midseason Madness with some roster changes but high hopes. We’ll see if new Florida Mayhem signing Rupal and new coach KariV can make a big impact.
