FaZe H1ghSky1 joins YouTube after Twitch underage ban

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Turner “Tfue” Tenney came out with a lawsuit against his former North American esports organization FaZe Clan recently. In the lawsuit, he provided details about the unfair labor practices, the surprising percentage cut that the organization received, and more. Among these details included information about H1ghSky1 being underage and pressured into lying about his age. As such, Twitch has suspended the underage streamer for violations of their Terms of Service. H1ghSky1 has since moved over to YouTube to continue streaming, provided he has adult supervision while doing so.

Evidence of being underage

During the conflict between Tfue and FaZe Clan, people found evidence that showed H1ghSky1 being underage during his signing. The young player used to stream on Twitch and also compete in Epic Games’ Fortnite World Cup. Epic Games requires eligible Fortnite competitors to be at least 13 years of age. Also, players that are under 17 need permission from a parent or legal guardian. This would have made him ineligible for the competition.

Twitch also has a similar guideline for users that stream on its platform. It requires users to be the minimum age of 13 in order to use the platform. With evidence showing he was only 11 when he signed with FaZe Clan, he violated the terms of service. Twitch has since reportedly deleted the account for the violation. Because of this, H1ghSky1 has since moved over to streaming on YouTube Gaming’s platform. He was joined by his mother, in agreement with YouTube’s policy for adult supervision with minors.

H1ghSky1’s stance

“Okay, guys. Well, I’m back. I’m now streaming on YouTube and my Twitch account was suspended due to me being underage. And yes, I am 12,” said H1ghSky1. “I only lied so that I could fulfill my dream of being a streamer. It’s been my dream for a long time and I worked for like a year and a half for it. I’m sorry that I lied.”

His mom also asked a question during the stream. H1ghSky1 then acknowledged the Twitch account had been created by his brother and he was only using it. However, that still counts as a violation of the Twitch terms of service.

H1ghSky1 will continue his streaming career on YouTube with adult supervision. This will likely continue until he turns old enough to create a Twitch account again. What do you think about this situation?
