Pokémon UNITE revealed Duraludon the newest Pokémon being added to the game on Feb 23, during the annual Pokémon day celebration. But on Tuesday, the Japanese reveal video offered players a greater glimpse into how this character will function.
Duraludon enters UNITE with new moves
Duraludon is a Pokémon with no evolutions, so it starts fully evolved from the beginning of the game. Based on the footage released by the official Pokémon UNITE Japanese channel, the Pokémon will be an attacker that can control areas with its abilities, providing a great deal to a teamfight.
The descriptions of Duraludon’s moves are as follows:
Passive: Heavy Metal Allows — Duraludon immunity to one knock up before going on cooldown.
Base ZR move: Metal Claw — A slash that damages enemies in a cone in front of Duraludon.
Base R move: Laser Focus — A move similar to Machop’s Bulk Up, which gives Duraludon additional movement speed.
Laser focus can be upgraded into one of the following:
Stealth Rocks — This ability has multiple charges and allows Duraludon to control space with multiple area of effect Stealth Rocks that damage and slow enemies.
Flash Cannon — A giant beam that does damage in a large area of effect. If the move manages to kill an enemy, the cooldown resets.
Metal Claw can be upgraded into one of the following:
Dragon Pulse — auto attacks stack to a third beam that does damage onto the target being auto attacked.
Dragon Tail — Duraludon leaps back and knocks an enemy up, stunning them for a short amount of time.
UNITE MOVE — Duraludon releases a large orange beam that rotates clockwise around the Pokémon, damaging everything in its area of effect.
What is Duraludon’s role in Pokémon UNITE?
Duraludon will most likely be an attacker in the tri lane meta that has emerged in the Pokémon UNITE competitive scene. Its viability will depend on how good Metal Claw will be at securing neutral objectives such as Audinos and the Vespiqueen camp. Either way, Duraludon will provide another alternative to run in the tri lane other than Pikachu.
