Though it will be smaller than its pre-COVID iteration, the event will still feature a handful of high-level competitors from outside of the country. Here’s everything viewers need to know about Uprising 2022.

Players to watch

As the lone PGRU-ranked player registered to attend, Brian “Cosmos” Kalu will be the favorite to win Ultimate Singles at Uprising 2022. He is coming off of a first-place finish at Shine 2022 that included wins over Paris “Light” Ramirez, Salvatore “Zomba” DeSena, Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey and Jude “Jakal” Harris.

Meanwhile, South Korean players like Taewan “LynZle” K., James “Tanark” Jongho Lee and Park “Sejun” Se-Jun will aim to defend their region. The event will also feature some top Australian players, such as Bradley “DD” Kun and Sebastian “SebPro101” Poli.

With Cody “iBDW” Schwab and Masaya “aMSa” Chikamoto dropping out, the Melee bracket at Uprising 2022 will be less stacked than originally expected. Now, the most prominent out-of-country player attending the event is Ganondorf main ManRay.

ManRay had his best results to date at online tournaments in mid-2021. He placed 65th at Rollback Rumble: The Big One with a win on Shephard “Fiction” Lima, and 13th at Galint Melee Open: Summer Edition with wins on Zach “Midnight Blue” Marra and Leon “ycz6” Zhou.

How to watch Uprising 2022

The Uprising 2022 broadcast will take place on two different channels. Fans looking to watch the stream on Twitch can do so via VGBootCamp. Meanwhile, viewers can also catch a YouTube stream courtesy of Core-A Events.

The tournament will kick off at 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday with Ultimate Doubles, which will take place entirely on the first day of competition. Then, Ultimate Singles pools will start at 1 a.m. on Saturday. The Singles bracket will run all the way up until top eight on Day 1.

Melee Singles pools are set to begin at 3 a.m. on Saturday and run all the way until top eight. While both Melee and Ultimate top eight will take place on Day 2, the tournament organizers have not yet announced the schedule for Sunday.
