After a weekend of dungeon-running action, Echo became the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International Group A champions. The team earned a place in the Global Finals, taking home the lion’s share of the weekly $30,000 prize pool.
Joining Echo in the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International Global Finals will be team Baldy, as they secured the silver and also qualified for a spot.
Echo players go undefeated in WoW MDI
During the first week of five-versus-five and best-of-three matches, Echo went undefeated in the upper bracket. In the first round, they went up against Apes Together Strong, earning a score of 2-0. This continued in the quarterfinals, where Echo bested Yeppers with the same score. Echo then faced Baldy in the semifinals, pushing the latter team into the elimination bracket.
However, Blady didn’t give in as they fought against Evolved and achieved a score of 2-1, advancing to the final for a rematch against Echo. When it came down to this World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International Group A match, the first dungeon was the Tazavesh, the Veiled Market.
Aggressive plays win the day
Echo pulled ahead and cleared the first two sections before taking down the Alcruux, Achillite and Venza Goldfuse bosses. They followed this by engaging the next section’s trash before defeating the Myza’s Oasis boss.
Before Echo faced So’azmi, the team’s Warlock set up a Demonic Circle, tagged one of the mobs and circled back to his previous location. This brought the mobs and the Commerce Enforcer to the team. By casting Force Multiplier, the Commerce Enforcer increased its damage dealt and taken. The AoE spell also meant more damage to So’azmi, which Echo didn’t hesitate to bring down in under two minutes.
The next dungeon that Echo and Baldy entered was the Mists of Tirna Scithe. While Baldy shrouded against the Tirnenn Villagers, Echo went for a more aggressive first pull before fighting the Ingra Maloch boss. After Echo took down Mistcaller, they shrouded themselves through some Spinemaw mobs.
The team also popped their Bloodlust right before they engaged Tred’ova, burning through the boss’ health total quickly. After dodging Tred’ova while bursting him down, Echo earned a score of 2-0 and became the World of Warcraft Mythic Dungeon International Group A champions. By going head-to-head against Echo in the Group A finals, Baldy also earned a spot in the Global Finals.
The World of Warcraft esports action will return next week from April 29 to May 1 on YouTube.
