Dreamhack partners with Collegiate Starleague to host event tournaments

Earlier today, event organizer Dreamhack announced a new partnership with the Collegiate Starleague (CSL). The CSL is the leading college esports league in North America. This exclusive partnership will see CSL tournaments held during Dreamhack events in the US and Canada and will run through 2022.

How the partnership will work

The CSL will host tournaments for college teams from all around the US and Canada, providing a $10,000 scholarship prize pool and travel stipends for each of the players. Besides this, the group will work alongside CSL Campus Gaming Ambassadors to promote these events and their competitors. Dreamhack, on the other hand, will provide the broadcast talent and stages for the college players to compete on. Together, the two organizations aim to offer better opportunities for collegiate teams and players alike.

Dreamhack-CSL events

The goal for the two companies is to host CSL tournaments at each of the North American Dreamhack events, which include Montreal, Dallas, Anaheim, and Atlanta for 2020. However, as Dreamhack has been expanding its North American locations over the years, we may see even more events come 2021. For now, though, this partnership will kick things off at Dreamhack Anaheim, running Feb. 21-23. That will be the first of their events to include CSL tournaments.

Event competitions

A wide variety of competitive titles are planned to be available for players to compete. The CSL currently hosts competitions for the following list of games, though they hope to expand this list as leagues develop.

  • Fortnite
  • Starcraft II
  • Madden
  • Hearthstone
  • Rocket League
  • Overwatch
  • NBA 2K
  • Street Fighter V

  • Gears 5
