DrDisrespect reportedly permanently banned from Twitch

As of June 26, Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm is banned from the world’s largest streaming platform, Twitch. Over the last five years, DrDisrespect has cultivated a massive community of gamers. His channel garnered well over 4 million followers. To his credit, he’s built what some would consider to be a gaming empire, known for his rugged attitude and high-octane gameplay and even having a TV show in the works.

The doc quietly taken down

Rod “Slasher” Breslau reported information today saying DrDisrespect is permanently banned from Twitch. Currently, a quick visit to his page shows a small ghost image with text saying “that content is unavailable.” Amidst rampant DMCA troubles, many have suspected the doc is the music industry’s latest victim. However, Slasher’s sources state the ban is unrelated to DMCA issues.

The last time the streamer found himself in hot water was July 2019. At the time, Twitch banned DrDisrespect because he live-streamed inside a bathroom at E3 2019.

Moreover, DrDisrespect signed an exclusivity agreement in early 2020 with Twitch, reportedly worth millions of dollars. IGN reached out to Twitch but was met with a vague statement: “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”

As the news broke, the Twitch community scrambled for answers. At the time of this article, a direct explanation for why Twitch would ban one of its most successful broadcasters has not been issued. DrDisrespect hasn’t spoken publicly about the situation.

At the start of his career, the entertainer started off streaming H1Z1. He later shot to stardom after becoming an immensely popular PUBG personality. Additionally, his competitive nature made him a staple in many tournaments. In recent years, DrDisrespect has been seen streaming Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone.
