The Dallas Fuel have traded main tank Min-seok “OGE” Son to the Los Angeles Gladiators for DPS player Gui-un “Decay” Jang.

A big trade

This trade is one of the biggest in the league so far, with both players being all-star caliber. OGE was the starting main tank for the Dallas Fuel for most of both of their seasons in the league. His consistent play led to most of their upset victories and best plays of both years. His coordination with any off-tank that was by his side was noticeable, and he was almost always one of the Fuel’s best players. Plus, he was able to play every main tank hero at a top tier, from Winston to Orisa.

On the other side of the trade, Decay was one of the biggest free agents before season two began. His great play for KongDoo Panthera in Korean Contenders led him to be a wanted man across the league. Plus, one of his most positive attributes was his incredible flexibility, playing multiple heroes at a top tier. He ended up signing and playing for the Los Angeles Gladiators, playing most of the season. However, most people agreed that he didn’t live up to the hype he came in with, plus his coordination with his team wasn’t the best it could’ve been. But towards the end of the season, he improved and led them into the playoffs.

How do the two teams fare?

Dallas acquiring Decay makes their DPS lineup even more flexible. While we don’t know for sure who is staying on Dallas for 2020 yet, the same applies. Players like Dylan “aKm” Bignet and Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo are also known for their range. Adding Decay to that mix makes the other players work harder for their starting roster spot. But losing OGE means that they might be making Ashley “Trill” Powell their main tank for 2020. If that is true, there could be some inconsistency out of the gate for the Fuel, as Trill didn’t look great in his time on stage last year.

The Los Angeles Gladiators acquiring OGE gives them a nice replacement for Chang-hoon “rOar” Gye, whom they traded to the Washington Justice earlier this off-season. While Roar didn’t do poorly in his first season in the league, he also didn’t perform to expectations. In losing him, they can get a main tank who has more experience and is arguably better in OGE. With the Gladiators also acquiring Indy “SPACE” Halpern from the Los Angeles Valiant, their tank line is now one of the best in the league on paper. However, the key words in that sentence are, ‘on paper’. The trade looks very even, with both teams acquiring a player they needed. But either side can have unforeseen issues with the new player joining in. We won’t truly know who’s won the trade until the third season starts. But, right now, both the Fuel and the Gladiators seemed to have improved their teams a lot.
