Game Awards: Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled officially confirmed

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

After countless rumors, Crash Team Racing is official! Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is heading to multiple platforms in June of 2019. This also comes on the heels of remasters for the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy distinctively titled Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Additionally, the original Spyro trilogy has received the same treatment just this fall with the Spryo Reignited Trilogy.

Remakes of these classic titles are becoming more popular within the video game industry. Crash Team Racing seemed like a surety at one point, and now it is officially on deck. The trailer shown at the Game Awards clearly displays the classic kart racer with vibrant, colorful modernized build that we are familiar with in the other newest remakes from Activision. Be sure to check out the trailer below.

What to expect?

Everything you know from the original title seems to be making its way over to the remake along with four-player local split screen multiplayer. However, not only does CTR return with the crazy tracks and weapons to bring down the competition — features players may be familiar with from the PlayStation era — but now additional options allowing for kart customizations and online play are being added to the mix. We wouldn’t be reporting on it if there weren’t an esports angle, right? There’s always potential for a beloved racing game such as this.

For those who remember, Crash Team Racing also contained a story mode. So if online competition isn’t your bag, you can at least count on that. All of the characters from the classic title will be returning. Get ready to “drift into gear,” as the trailer eloquently puts it.

What are your thoughts on this reveal? Did you already have an inkling this was coming? Or were you pleasantly surprised? Are you excited to race against other bandicoots online? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
