One of the biggest names in content creation is making a huge comeback in a surprising way. Yesterday, Funimation announced that popular musician, YouTuber and streamer Corpse Husband will be entering the world of anime by voicing Ojiro Otori in the English dub of the upcoming anime Tribe Nine. This will be Corpse’s first major voice acting role.

Corpse Husband to voice act in Ojiro Otori
“Very excited to announce that I will be voicing Ojiro in the English dub for Tribe Nine from the same creator as Danganronpa and Akudama Drive,” said Corpse Husband. “I couldn’t have asked for a better first role. Very honored to be a part of it!”
“Tribe Nine” is Danganronpa creator Kodaka Kazutaka’s latest work that’s airing in the current winter 2022 anime season. Animated by studio LIDENFILMS (Tokyo Revengers) and directed by Yu Aoki (BEAN BANDIT), the series also has a video game adaptation developed by Tookyo Games and a webtoon in development.
“Tribe Nine” takes place in the dystopic Neo Tokyo where young kids have abandoned traditional society to form their own tribes. To avoid outbreaks of violence, the government mandated that all conflicts be resolved playing Extreme Baseball, a futuristic version of baseball where players can use tricked-out gear. Ojiro Otori is the show’s primary antagonist.
On this project, Corpse Husband will join a star-studded cast of both English and Japanese voice acting talents including Jacob Hopkins (“The Amazing World of Gumball”, “To Your Eternity”), Horie Shun (“Rent-a-Girlfriend”, “Sarazanmai”) and Suwabe Junichi (“Black Clover”, “Fate” series).
Corpse Husband isn’t the only popular creator that’s been landing big voice acting roles on mainstream IPs recently. OfflineTV streamer and musician Lily “LilyPichu” Ki has openly pursued a career in voice acting for years and landed multiple roles across games and anime in 2021, including Sayu in Genshin Impact, Yoshi in “Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro,” and Miki (“Welcome to Demon School Iruma-Kun Season 2.”)
