Cheaters caught in Fortnite World Cup qualification

In Fortnite’s newest blog post, the Fortnite Competitive Team announced a ruling finding a group of players guilty of Collusion. The collusion occurred during Week 3 of the Fortnite World Online Open competition and will result in a 14-day competitive ban for the involved players. On top of this, all affected players will be ineligible for any Week 3 prizes.

XXiF out, MSF Clix in

Notably, one of the players caught colluding was XXiF, a player who would have qualified for the Fortnite World Cup Finals in New York. However, as a result of this collusion, XXiF has forfeited their spot to the next highest ranked player, MSF Clix.

Following the qualification matches last week, MSF Clix posted on his YouTube channel what he believed to be proof of collusion in the form of other players donating kills to allow XXiF to qualify. The full video can be found on Clix’s YouTube Channel, where it currently sits at over 50,000 views.

This is, likely, at least part of what sparked the investigation into the collusion of XXiF and his partners. In the video, you can see multiple players allegedly missing shots on purpose and playing suboptimally.

Rules Stated

The Fortnite Competitive Team’s post quotes the official rules for the event, namely Rules 8.2.2 and 8.2.3. “Players may not work together to deceive or otherwise cheat other players during any match (“Collusion”),” it states. The rules go on to define several examples of Collusion, such as players from opposing teams working together or planning their movements across the map prior to a game’s start, among other items.

The Fortnite Competitive Team further added they took action against 698 other players for breaking various official rules. It’s a great step in working to secure the integrity of competitive Fortnite. You can find the official rules on the Fortnite World Cup homepage on the Epic Games website.
