From the very start of Final Fantasy 16, you will be seeing Chocobos everywhere. If this is your first time playing a Final Fantasy game, then you likely have no idea what a Chocobo is. Chocobos are basically the horses of this universe, as they can be ridden from destination to destination to cut down on your travel time. They are usually yellow or white and have a beak, feathers, and two small wings.
In Final Fantasy 16, your character, Clive, has a special Chocobo named Ambrosia, but you are not able to ride her at the beginning of the game.
Naturally, players are asking exactly when they will be able to take a ride on the back of Ambrosia, or any other Chocobo for that matter. If you’ve been pondering this question, then fear not, as I have the answer to it in the guide below.
When do you get to ride a Chocobo in Final Fantasy 16?

The good news is that you do eventually get to ride a Chocobo. The bad news is that it will take you around 15-20 hours of gameplay to reach that point in the story.
Around this time, you will receive a side quest called “The White-Winged Wonder,” which will appear in your journal shortly after reaching Martha’s Rest. You need to track and complete this side quest in order to gain access to your Chocobo, Ambrosia.
This quest is given to you by a character named Rowan, who is located in the southeastern part of Martha’s Rest. Upon completion of The White-Winged Wonder, you can summon your Chocobo whenever you are out in the open. To do this, simply hold down R3 and Ambrosia will run up next to you. You can get on her back by pressing X and you can control her by using the buttons that appear on the right side of your screen.
