Built by Gamers, an esports and gaming lifestyle organization based out of Arizona announced its acquisition by Rivulet Media, a film and content company that went public in 2020, on Monday.

“We are excited to join Rivulet Media,” Todd Searle, CEO of BBG said in a press release. “With their deep experience in entertainment, and as gaming becomes more embedded in the culture, we see the opportunity to create content that helps bridge the gap between gaming and traditional media.”
Rivulet has produced three movies and other content in Hollywood and merged with Bio-Matrix Scientific Group in early 2020. Rivulet Media is financed and run by Mike Witherill, the producer of John Wick, and Aaron Klusman, an Arizona real estate investor. Witherill serves as COO and Klusman is Rivulet Media’s CEO.
“It has become clear that gaming is the fastest growing entertainment medium – and many of our collaborative partners, like Netflix, Apple, or Warner Bros, are increasingly concerned about losing market share to Fortnite, not other studios,” Witherill said in a press release.
BBG has teams in Fortnite, VALORANT and Apex Legends and Halo and has 15 content creators signed to its brand across title like Call of Duty and Player Uknown’s Battlegrounds.
With the acquisition will give BBG increased levels of funding that will presumably go into content creation among other areas. BBG now also has the possibility of garnering Hollywood access with celebrities outside of gaming that can push forward the BBG brand.
“Gaming is the future of entertainment and pop culture,” Tyler Farnswirth, the Chief Marketing Officer of BBG said. “Built By Gamers is leading the charge in ‘widening the tent’ by producing the most interesting and accessible gaming content in the world. We’re thrilled to join the Rivulet Media family with their decades of blockbuster content creation experience. This union will propel our mission forward. The future is gaming and we’re just getting started.”
