Blue and Salt round out Smash Summit 13 line-up

A pair of up-and-comers will make their Summit debuts

The final roster has been set for Beyond the Summit’s upcoming Super Smash Bros. Melee invitational as the third voting period ended on Friday. Ethan “Blue” Martin and Christian “Salt” Rennie have become the final vote-ins to earn their spots at Smash Summit 13.

With less than 250 Twitter followers, Indiana Fox main Blue has become among the least prominent players to rally enough support to get into Summit. Blue got into Smash Summit 13 with the help of his esports team, Pulse Gaming. Pulse previously helped Dan “Swift” Petruso get into Smash Summit 12.

Meanwhile, Salt had to beat out fellow up-and-coming Captain Falcon main Yasin “Mekk” Mekki in order to get into Smash Summit 13. One of Salt’s sponsors, Conduit Gaming, supported him by selling advertising space on a custom jersey, which Salt will wear when he attends Summit.

Blue is a relative newcomer to the Melee scene, as he began competing in 2018. Even so, he quickly rose to the top of competition in Indiana, debuting at No. 2 on the state’s 2021 winter power rankings. Blue notably placed 49th at Riptide 2021. In the process, he eliminated Michael “Michael” Rollberg, who was ranked 50th in the world on the 2019 MPGR.

Meanwhile, Salt has risen to prominence recently by earning high placements at online tournaments. His online improvements translated well to the offline environment at Genesis 8. Salt defeated Hugh “SluG” Hegarty, Luis “TheSWOOPER” Olivo and Joseph “Azel” Resplandor before losing a close, five-game set to Justin “Plup” McGrath to place 17th at Genesis.

Now that Blue and Salt have been voted in, the Smash Summit 13 line-up is complete. The following players will compete at the Summit Gaming House from May 12-15:
