BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle gets four characters and a new fate coming soon

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Some big news came in from EVO Japan for fans of Arc System Works Blazblue Cross Tag Battle. It has been a long time since we have heard any news on updates for the title, but we got a deluge of reveals after Grand Finals at EVO Japan this year. New characters and franchises are finally on the way.

We have four new characters coming to the game: Naoto from BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Teddy from Persona 4 Arena, Seth from Under Night In-Birth, and the biggest announcement, the fifth fate joining the game, Heart Aino from Arcana Heart 3. Arcana Heart is a perfect franchise to join Tag Battle, but many suspected the next franchise to join the fray would be the Senran Kagura series, especially after datamining after the game’s release revealed voice clips for “Asuka” and “Yumi,” two characters from that series. However, it could still be possible since the final announcement was that a sixth fate will be joining the series, so fans of that series can still hold out hope. I know who I would want to see from that series in the game…

These characters will be part of the game’s arcade release due in Japan this spring, and console and PC versions will update to this new version 1.5 featuring these characters sometime after that happens. If you are interested in watching all the hot tournament action from BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, you can check out an archive of the stream, depending on how much Ruby and Gordeau you can watch in one sitting. Your mileage may vary.

After going so long without any news, it is nice to see that BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is alive and kicking, especially since we were such fans of the game on release. Here’s to more good news for fans of Tag Battle coming sooner rather than later.
