An expert guide showcasing the best way to use the mobile sniper champion

Zeri has arrived in Teamfight Tactics set 6.5 as a five-cost Debonair Sniper, and Lightning Crash make her one of the premier hybrid damage champions in the game. Through a mix of analysis by Upcomer’s TFT expert and data from API sites like Metatft.com, Upcomer has put together a Zeri TFT guide that goes over her best items, comps and positioning.

Item Build

Morello’s and Hand of Justice are Zeri’s two best items. | Provided by Warren Younger/Tiermaker.

Zeri’s optimal items are very weird. Since she scales with both Attack Damage and Ability Power, it’s hard, at first glance, to decide which path to go down. But looking at data and statistics, the answer is there: Zeri doesn’t really need to go down either path as the main goal is to keep her as healthy as possible.

That’s because she can drag fights into overtime almost guaranteed. Because of that, Morello’s is her absolute best item, with Statikk Shiv coming in a close second. That’s because she can proc Statikk Shiv so easily with how her auto attacks are programmed. As for her third item, Hand of Justice is a perfect mix of more damage and healing.

Positioning

Zeri shines on the backline. | Provided by Warren Younger/lolchess.gg team builder.

Zeri is a Sniper and she has a ridiculous nine-hex range. This means she will get the most value by being placed on the last line of hexes.

Since she is mobile, it really doesn’t matter which hex players initially place Zeri in since she will skate across the board once her ability activates. To keep her safe while she takes time to charge up, placing her in either of the corners is optimal — but don’t be afraid to place her in the middle of the back row if players think they can dodge Assassins or long duration crowd control.

Top Comp

Soju’s Zeri comp from TFT Challenger Series highlights the five-cost carry’s strengths. | Provided by Warren Younger/lolchess.gg team builder.

Cloud9’s Micheal “k3Soju” Zhang brought out the best Zeri composition in the current metagame when he took down Game 1 of the TFT Challenger Series finals with Debonair bodyguards. This comp utilizes Zeri’s traits, as it activates Debonair as well as Sniper while buying ample time for Zeri to pop off in fights. Draven and Jhin are fantastic secondary carry champions.
