In Teamfight Tactics set 6.5, Jayce is a five-cost Transformer, Innovator, Enforcer, and his Mercury Cannon/Mercury Hammer makes him one of the premier hybrid tank/carry champions in the game. Through a mix of analysis by Upcomer’s TFT expert and data from API sites like Metatft.com, Upcomer has brought players a Jayce TFT guide that goes over what the best items, comps and positioning looks like.
Item Build
Jayce has a lengthy item tier list because of his unique trait, Transformer. Depending on where Jayce is placed on the map, he is either a tank or a carry. Due to this, he can use practically any item in the game.
Each tier has six items in it — three damage items and three tank items. Jayce’s best in slot damage items are Giant Slayer, Last Whisper and Infinity Edge. His best in slot tank items are Bramble’s Vest, Warmogs and Titan’s Resolve.
Positioning
Jayce’s unique trait, Transformer opens up infinite positioning possibilities. That’s because when he is in the first two rows, he takes his tank form. If he is in the last two rows, he takes his ranged carry form. Because of this, depending on the items players build on him, Jayce can be placed anywhere on the board.
Optimally though, players should place tank Jayce on the front line and carry Jayce on the backline.
Top Comp
This comp is just one of many examples where Jayce shines. Just like many comps, players will want to play to the strengths of the traits the main carry provides. In this case, Jayce is an Innovator and an Enforcer.
Luckily for players, the Innovator tree is broken (in a strong way). Going deep into the Innovator tree is amazing in the current metagame thanks to the utility it provides. In this comp, Jayce is the primary damage dealer. To help him out, the frontline activates his other trait, Enforcer. Vi, Tahm Kench, Singed and the Mechanical Bear provide a solid frontline that lets Jayce pop off in fights.
