Are the Nightmare Prime Wars “bugged?” (yes.) – Once Human

While there has been no official word from Once Human representatives on the matter, plenty of players have been struggling with two of the new Nightmare Prime Wars in particular. Those are Shadowfall and Lost Oasis.

But are we simply just not good enough to take these on yet, or are they bugged? Let’s take a balanced look at all of it.

Is the Dry Valley Nightmare Prime War bugged?

This is a resounding no. We have completed this Prime War twice with no issues. One of those times we were only around 15-20 players participating, with a couple more joining later. The other time we filled up the war with a full 40, and we won very easily.

We cleared all three of the tentacles in just 12 minutes and 21 seconds, despite the severe lag we experienced. So this one is not bugged, and you can go ahead and rally your server to get it done.

Are the Lost Oasis and Shadowfall Prime Wars “bugged?”

Absolutely, without a doubt. That same 40-player team went over to Lost Oasis right before and right after beating Dry Valley. Here’s the result of that.

And it’s the same every single time we try it. We’re also hyper-organized. with two teams split up and securing the smaller bosses, while another team focuses on the Manibus with Red Plasma missiles. Yet, every single time, the Manibus destroys our building protecting the Staroid Restrainer in seconds and then destroys the Restrainer as well.

The same happens at both Shadowfall and Lost Oasis, and I think I know why.

What is the current problem with Shadowfall and Lost Oasis Prime Wars in Once Human?

The issue is the spawn location of the Manibus. At Dry Valley, he spawns off to the side and we have time to focus him down and take him out before he gets to the Restrainer (if he moves at all – I’ve never actually seen him move over).

At both Shadowfall and Lost Oasis, he spawns directly above the restrainer. His area-of-effect (AOE) attack then hits the restrainer every time he uses it. Even when there are no players in the vicinity, he still seems to use the AOE attack.

This makes it impossible to beat these Prime Wars, as we currently don’t have the firepower in the entire game to be able to defeat a Manibus in under two minutes.

On the off chance that someone did teleport in and we simply didn’t see this happen, it’s still a broken mechanic. In servers full of people, where not everyone speaks the same language, it’s almost cruel to expect no one to go anywhere near the Restrainer.

Add to that that flying enemies spawn directly on the restrainer, and it’s almost impossible. Some have managed, but even after extensive testing and teamwork, we could not.

What have Starry Studios said on the matter?

To date, Starry Studios have not acknowledged this as an issue just yet. I, for one, really hope they are aware of it (I have attempted to submit a bug report, as have other players on the server). Perhaps they are aware of it and are working on a fix already — we certainly hope so.

The other option is that this could be intentional, and that a small glitch is causing the Manibus to use his AOE attack even when there are no players in the vicinity. Either way, a fix is certainly needed soon.

Dry Valley is playable at the moment, so if you’d like to give that a shot, check out my guide to beating the Nightmare Prime Wars in Once Human.
