What is the format of the Pokémon UNITE Championship Series

Players will compete in the 5 vs. 5 tournament mode that is found in every Pokémon UNITE client. Players will compete in monthly open tournaments in order to qualify for larger regional events. Teams will be able to participate using the Nintendo Switch, iOS, or Android version of Pokémon UNITE.

Open tournaments will feature a double elimination format where the top 16 teams will make it through to the Monthly Finals. Placing in said Finals will earn players CP.

How to qualify for the World Championship

This Pokémon UNITE series splits all players into seven competitive regions: North America, South America, Europe, Oceania, Japan, South Korea, and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Players will need to be at least 16 years of age to participate. All participating players in a region will have to qualify for that month’s regional tournament through an Open Qualifier round, such as the February Cup, which takes place from Feb. 19-20, 2022.

The series also features an event known as the Aeos Cup. The event will take place in April, and is a special tournament that awards prizes and more CP than the monthly tournaments.

The top eight teams in CP in each Regional Zone before June 2022 will earn a spot in the Regional Championships. They will be joined by the top four teams from the previous month’s tournament and 12 teams that earn a spot through the Open Qualifier. The Regional Championships will then determine which teams qualify for the 2022 Pokémon UNITE World Championships.

The Aeos cup will have a total of $25,000 up for grabs, every Regional Championship will have $50,000 and the World Championship will feature a $500,000 prize pool.
