Final Fantasy XVI, Stray, Spider-Man were the latest bangers at the State of Play

The June PlayStation State of Play revolved around third-party titles and PlayStation VR2 on Thursday. For those who don’t have 30 minutes to catch up, here’s all the big news about games like Final Fantasy XVI, Spider-Man, Stray and more.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

The show started off with a bang, albeit a somewhat expected one. Resident Evil 4 is getting a remake in 2023.

Many titles coming to PSVR2

Staying on topic with Resident Evil, the eighth installment, Village, is getting PSVR2 support, like its predecessor. Following that was the second chapter for The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, set to release this year. Next up, there was quick confirmation for PSVR2 support for No Man’s Sky, which can already be played in VR.

The PSVR2 section ended with Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a first-ever VR experience for the franchise. Horizon Forbidden West will also get a large update, including New Game +, available today.

Spider-Man is coming to PC

Marvel’s Spider-Man, one of Sony’s most popular exclusives, is coming to PC on Aug. 12. This is the Remastered version that also came to PlayStation 5, though there was no word on the Miles Morales version.

Stray releases in July

Stray, the game where players control a cat in a cyberpunk, android-filled world, finally got a release date along with a new trailer. The indie game has had multiple delays but will now arrive on July 19.

The Callisto Protocol, releasing Dec. 2022

A new trailer for The Callisto Protocol dropped during the event. The survival horror game from Striking Distance, a studio within PUBG Studios helmed by Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield, is set to release Dec. 2. Days earlier, Schofield announced that the game is no longer set in the PUBG universe, but features its own separate story.

Rollerdrome

Rollerdrome, a new game by Roll7, the studio known for the OlliOlli games, is coming on Aug. 16.

Eternights

Ready to go full anime? You may just want to look out for Eternights, coming early 2023.

Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 got a teaser trailer earlier in the year, but now it has a proper reveal trailer. The game is set for a 2023 release.

Tunic

Tunic, the souls-like game with a cutesy skin, made by a single person and already out on other platforms will come to PS4 and PS5 on Sept. 27.

Season: A Letter to the Future

Season: A Letter to the Future received a new trailer, including a release window for fall 2022.

Final Fantasy XVI, coming 2023

To end the State of Play with a blast, Final Fantasy XVI received a new trailer and a release window for Summer 2023. Producer Naoki Yoshida, more commonly known as Yoshi-P, also stated that they will start doing interviews with the media, so more information should start coming out soon.
