More games than last year have made the official roster

Since 2015, Combo Breaker has been one of the premier multi-game fighting game tournament series, only paling in comparison to Evo. But while Evo typically only includes nine featured games, the Combo Breaker 2023 line-up will include nearly 30 featured games.

This year’s event will feature even more brackets than last year’s, meaning there will be events for a wider range of fighting game players to enjoy. Here’s an overview of all of the featured games that will be at Combo Breaker 2023 in Schaumburg, Illinois, from May 26-28.

New titles making their Combo Breaker debuts

Four video games at Combo Breaker 2023 will be making their first-ever appearances at a Combo Breaker tournament. These include two traditional two-dimensional fighters and two platform fighters. Interestingly, this line-up includes Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, an updated version of a game that came out in 2006.

This event will also mark the debut of Rushdown Revolt, a platform fighter that initially launched in 2020. Finally, the new games line-up includes two new release from 2022: DNF Duel and Warner Bros. Games’ crossover platform fighter MultiVersus.

Although 2v2 is the primary competitive mode for MultiVersus, Combo Breaker 2023 is currently only slated to include a 1v1 bracket. This is presumably to keep in line with other fighting games at the event, which are generally 1v1 esports. However, according to MultiVersus player Xavier “CPWMA” Conchar, the tournament organizers are considering adding a 2v2 bracket for MultiVersus.
