How to recruit the Adoring Fan in Starfield

The Adoring Fan is one of the most well-known characters in Starfield, and that was before the game even launched. One of the biggest pieces of marketing material for Starfield was the return of the classic character from the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Now, in Starfield, the Adoring Fan is a much more fleshed-out character, and you can even recruit him to join your ship’s crew.

However, there are some requirements that you need to meet before the Adoring Fan will grace you with his presence. In the guide below, I will list all of the steps you need to meet for the Adoring Fan to join your crew of companions.

Recruiting the Adoring Fan in Starfield

For starters, the process of recruiting the Adoring Fan actually starts before you’ve made any real progress in the game. In the Traits tab of the character creator, there is a Trait called “Hero Worshipped.” This Trait basically spells out how to recruit the Adoring Fan, and if you don’t select this Trait, there is no way to make the Adoring Fan join your crew.

If you did select that Trait, then all you have to do is wait. Eventually, in the city of New Atlantis on Jemison, the Adoring Fan will find you. This happened to me when I was walking out The Well area, but the yellow-haired character should make his way to you fairly soon after you land in New Atlantis.

When the Adoring Fan finds you, all you have to do is agree with his praises of you and say that it was destiny the two of you met. At this point, you can either tell the character to leave you alone or invite him to join your crew. Obviously, you want to select the latter of those two options.

Inviting the Adoring Fan to join you will cause him to make his way to your ship. You can assign him to the Frontier and the next time you board the ship, he will be there waiting. You can access your ship’s crew assignments by pressing “H” on PC and then selecting the “Crew” option at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to send the Adoring Fan wherever you need him to go.
