ZywOo goes deathless in opening match of PGL Major Antwerp

Vitality dominated Complexity 16-1 on Inferno

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut went deathless, posting an 11-0 scoreline, in Team Vitality’s opening match of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Vitality stomped Complexity Gaming 16-1 and ZywOo only took 90 damage across the 17 rounds.

The best of one match took place on Inferno. Vitality began on the CT side, where they got off to a commanding lead. Complexity detonated the bomb on Round 4, but ZywOo avoided death to save his weapon. That was the last round that Vitality would lose all game.

Even though ZywOo went deathless, he wasn’t Vitality’s top performer in the match. That honor went to Emil “Magisk” Reif who ended the map with a whopping 130.2 average damage per round. Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier and Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen were not far behind.

ZywOo is only the eighth player to ever go deathless in a CS:GO LAN match, according to HLTV’s Milan “Striker” Å vejda. The other seven players are:

  • Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg
  • Kyryll “ANGE1” Karasyov
  • Dominik “failzzr” Hampe
  • Max “MiGHTYMAX” Heath
  • Logan “LOGAN” Corti
  • Phạm “Rambutan” Xuân Giang
  • Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy

ZywOo is the only player to have managed the feat at a Valve-sponsored major, the pinnacle of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. It’s yet another record for the young French AWPer, who exploded onto the Tier 1 CS:GO scene when he joined Vitality in 2018. Since then, he’s been HLTV’s top player of the year in 2019 and 2020, and the second best player in 2021.

The match between Vitality and Complexity was their first of PGL Major Antwerp 2022. The best of one kicked off the Swiss format Challengers stage of the competition. Teams need either three wins to advance to the next stage or three losses to be eliminated from the major. Vitality will face off against the other 1-0 teams to see who will continue to advance with a perfect record.
