Cloud9 has officially signed Turkish entry-fragger Özgür “Woxic” Eker to their CS:GO roster as their star player. Woxic joins the British due to Alex “ALEX” McMeekin and William “Mezii” Merriman on Cloud9’s newly vamped squad. The 22-year-old had previously played for top European team Mousesports which currently ranks 21st in the world. He first joined the squad back in March of 2019 after leaving the Ukrainian CS:GO roster Hellraisers.

Woxic became inactive on Mousesports after they lost 3:2 against Fnatic at ESL Pro League Season 11: Europe. Before their 2nd place finishes at the ESL Pro League, Mousesports had been on a winning streak. The team had placed 1st at seven of the last nine offline events across Europe. Unfortunately, with COVID-19 most of the CS:GO events went online which placed Woxic on the bench. With his departure from Mousesports, he has become one of the most sought out free agents in the European market.

Cloud9 decided to restart their entire roster mid-way through the North American ESL Pro League Season 12. Their original roster consisted of three American platers accompanied by two South African players and a South African coach. All of which were released after being signed in early January of 2020.

Woxic rounds out Cloud9’s Colossus squad

After releasing their current CS:GO roster, Cloud9 started fresh by adding Henry “HenryG” Greer as their general manager. Shortly after prior 100 Thieves coach Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović was added to replace Tiaan “T.c” Coertzen. These two together would be the foundation of the new Cloud9 squad, which would spare no expense.

ALEX was the first player signed to Cloud9 as their captain with a $1,650,000 three-year contract. Another week later Cloud9 would sign Mezii with a $426,000 three-year contract then would shortly after sign Woxic. HenryG made it a point to reveal the salaries of their new roster to set the prescience of future deals in esports. Woxic’s three-year contract wouldn’t quite reach ALEX but would come very close. Cloud9 would sign him for another three-year deal with a $1,365,000 salary.
