World of Warships is set to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. Wargaming, the company behind World of Warships, announced today they’ll be hosting a live-streamed virtual navy parade. The parade will take place on May 6, 6 p.m. CEST.

World of Warships navy parade

This event, a first for Wargaming, will be live-streamed on Twitch. The live stream will feature iconic Allied warships with commentary from naval experts. Many countries around the world postponed or canceled their WWII commemorations due to the current pandemic. During this difficult time, it’s great to see gaming used again to spotlight important events like this.

Wargaming will join with many nations around the world to put on this Navy parade. It’s a unique event and has been built in partnership with the community. Instead of battling one another, community members and volunteers will navigate their ships in graceful choreography. Joining the community is New York Times bestselling author and naval historian James D. Hornfischer. Popular influencers The Mighty Jingles, Drachinifel, and Wargaming’s very own Chieftain will also be part of the commemorative event. They’ll be there to provide details about each of the ships and highlight the ships’ accomplishments during WWII.

After all the global events canceled, Wargaming stepped up to the plate to host this event. The publisher is known for its efforts in popularizing history through gaming experiences.

The event will be live this week, so don’t miss out. During the parade, there will be random prize drops for any World of Warship players watching. Players can expect permanent camouflages and ships to be part of the random drops. If you don’t have a World of Warships account, you can sign up for free to get one. Whilst the Twitch channel for the event hasn’t been officially announced, we can expect the event to be live-streamed on the official World of Warships Twitch account. Don’t miss out on this historic event!
