As many fans are still reeling from the lackluster 1.09 update, there’s still one lingering question with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. A few weeks back, we received a leak that Modern Warfare would be undergoing a massive overhaul in the coming weeks. This was speculated to be happening towards the end of November. However, with December rapidly approaching, we still haven’t heard a peep about the rumored overhaul. With many fans disappointed at how Modern Warfare is currently playing out, a mix-up to the formula is needed. Will Infinity Ward follow through with the overhaul or continue to put out mediocre updates?
The rumored overhaul coming to Modern Warfare
The community’s foremost leaker, TheGamingRevolution, first tweeted about the overhaul on October 31. Claiming that the mini-map would be returning to its normal state, he simply said: “There’s a big overhaul coming.”

It’s unclear where he got this information from, but TGR has been leaking Modern Warfare information accurately since July. So, he likely heard about the overhaul through the same sources that leaked him so much multiplayer intel.
While nothing is official, it’s apparent that Infinity Ward was at least tinkering with the idea of an overhaul. Whether or not they still intend to follow through with it is a whole other matter. They’ve shown they’re willing to adjust in-game mechanics for the community, but this could be a step too far.
When would the overhaul occur?
If the overhaul is in fact happening, which seems like the most logical event, it should launch within the next few weeks. While TGR did state that it would come by the end of November, some obstacles could have gotten in the way. Maybe issues on the technical side of things will delay the update into December.
That said, the overhaul could sync up with the release of Modern Warfare season 1. The first season will release a new content stream into the game in the form of a Battle Pass. Along with that, there’s expected to be a slew of gameplay changes and weapon balancing.
Although we have no confirmed dates, the first season should release by mid-December. If everything goes according to plan on a development side of things, this is around the time we should see the overhaul come as well.
