Why the Sykov is the best pistol in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3

The sleeper weapon in Warzone

Like most other secondary weapons, pistols have long been overlooked in Call of Duty: Warzone. They’ve had their moments in the sun, like when the Diamatti and Sykov ruined the game at different points. However, for the most part, players have focused on primary weapons, and with good reason. Primaries deal more damage and are more plentiful in the loot pool.

This doesn’t mean that pistols should be completely forgotten, though. Having the right secondary as a backup weapon can make all the difference in a close-range gunfight. Some pistols — like the Diamatti, Sykov and Renetti — are even better than shotguns or SMGs at close-range. There is a pistol that’s considered the best of the bunch, however, and that’s the Sykov.

Best pistol in Warzone

The fact that the Sykov is the best pistol in Warzone shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who’s played in Season 3. The Sykov was one of the most overpowered weapons in the battle royale’s history at its launch. Luckily for the player base, Raven Software nerfed the gun before it could do too much damage to the game’s integrity.

Even with its nerf, the Sykov is still the top dog in the pistol category. The Diamatti and Renetti are formidable options but they’re both three-round burst pistols that are best when used in akimbo. There’s not enough of a difference between the two to call one better than the other.

Enter the Sykov, which is fully automatic and boasts a huge 80-round magazine that can blow through hordes of enemies in seconds. This is doubled when the Sykov has the akimbo attachment. This is the biggest reason it was so overpowered at the start of Season 3.

Having something like the Sykov in the back pocket is a commodity in Warzone. Though shotguns and SMGs are overall better options, using a standard secondary allows players more flexibility in their loadout. If players want to go this route, the top secondary to pick is the Sykov.
