Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on Nov. 10 worldwide and will start out in the preseason. Then, after some time has passed, the Season 1 update will arrive in Modern Warfare 3, which should be the first major update the game receives.
While we already know a solid amount of the content that’s arriving in Season 1, there has been no official confirmation on a release date. We can go by the last few games, which have all seen Season 1 arrive sometime in December, but MW3 is not a normal Call of Duty title.
Season 1 release date in Modern Warfare 3
According to the newest blog post from Call of Duty, there is still no confirmation on an exact release date for Season 1. However, the developers did offer a timeframe, which is currently set for “early December.”
If I had to make a guess, December 5 or December 12 are two solid guesses as to when Season 1 will arrive. This is the first and second Tuesday of the month and Call of Duty has traditionally released big updates on Tuesdays. However, at this time, nothing is set in stone, so even the “early December” timeframe could be moved back if need be.
What content is coming in Season 1?
While we don’t know of a concrete release date, there is a plethora of content we know is arriving in Season 1. This includes the following:
- Warzone integration with the release of the full Urzikstan map
- Ranked Play for MW3 multiplayer
- 3 “brand-new” Core 6v6 Maps
- Additional maps for War, Ground War, etc.
- New multiplayer modes
- Season 1 Battle Pass
- New weapons
Some of this content, like Ranked Play and some weapons, could be held until the Season 1 Reloaded update. However, with such a jam-packed preseason and Season 1 launch, you will still have plenty of content to explore in MW3 before 2023 is up.
When is Season 1 Reloaded?
If you’re looking further ahead to the future, you might be curious about the next Season 1 Reloaded update, which will deliver even more content to MW3.
Unfortunately, there has been announcement or even leaks on when that update could arrive. However, if it’s like previous seasons in other Call of Duty titles, then the Reloaded update should come to MW3 around early-mid January. The Reloaded updates usually arrive around a month after the initial seasonal update, which is the halfway point between the current season and the next season.
However, due to Season 1 coming right before the winter holidays, the Reloaded update could be delayed to later in January, as the developers usually take some time off right before and after the new year. As such, we can’t say for certain when Season 1 Reloaded will arrive, but sometime in January is the best bet.
