Warzone player shows that the Double Barrel shotguns are still OP

Over the course of the last month, Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has been infiltrated by the Double Barrel shotguns. While more traditional guns are still more popular, the Double Barrel from Vanguard is perhaps the most annoying gun to fight against. It has tremendous range, damage and accuracy for a shotgun, leading to Raven Software nerfing it last week. However, that nerf appears to not have done enough, as Warzone Pacific players are still using them to great effect on Caldera.

The nerf to the Double Barrel shotgun specifically targeted the Akimbo perk. This perk allows players to carry two of the shotguns, which makes it twice as lethal. In the patch notes, Raven explained they nerfed the overall damage range while buffing the damage multiplier. They stated that this change would be more detrimental to the Double Barrel.

Of course, as any recent Warzone Pacific player knows, the Double Barrel shotguns are still as strong as ever.

Double Barrel shotguns still overpowered in Warzone Pacific

A recent Reddit clip was posted to the CODWarzone subreddit that showcases just how powerful the shotguns still are. The clip involves a player landing onto the map without any armor and getting one-shot-killed by a player running the Akimbo Double Barrels. What makes the clip hilarious and frustrating is how far away the enemy was from the player who died.

While the player in the clip didn’t have any armor, a shotgun shouldn’t be able to one-shot-kill a player from that range. The player clarified in the comments that this was in the pregame lobby of Warzone Pacific but the damage is still the same as it would be in an actual match.

Overall, players are still frustrated with the state of the Double Barrels in Warzone Pacific. They still kill too quickly at close-to-medium range and have virtually no counter. If players happen upon an enemy using the Double Barrels, they’re likely dead before they can even react.

After seeing all of the clips popping up of the current Double Barrel shotguns, Raven Software might need to do another weapon balancing pass on the weapons.
