Warzone devs nerf Radar Jammer on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island

A long-awaited nerf for the two maps

One of the biggest complaints from the Call of Duty: Warzone community in Season 4 has been over the Radar Jammer Field Upgrade. The Radar Jammer arrived in Warzone last season and has since become a vital part of players’ loadouts. The Field Upgrade causes enemies’ mini-maps to turn fuzzy when they’re in close proximity to the Radar Jammer. While this is supposed to be how the Radar Jammer works, players felt it was far too strong on the smaller maps of Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island.

Players complained to developer Raven Software that the Field Upgrade’s radius was too far. Players could be dozens of meters away from a Radar Jammer and still experience the effects of it. With smaller maps like Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island and multiple enemies placing Radar Jammers down each match, this issue was magnified in Season 4 of Warzone. Luckily, Raven Software just deployed a small patch that reduces the overall radius of the Radar Jammer on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island.

Radar Jammer is nerfed in Warzone

The patch was pushed through on Wednesday for all Warzone systems. Raven said on Twitter that they had “recently pushed a small update to reduce the radius of Radar Jammers by 20% on Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island.” That 20% is a big deal when talking about Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island, as those maps are extremely compact.

The devs went on to say that they are monitoring feedback and data from this change. If further adjustments are needed to the Radar Jammer, fans can expect the devs to keep making alterations as Season 4 goes on.

One aspect of the Radar Jammer that the devs might already be looking at after this patch is the amount of them on the map. Popular Warzone streamer Tyler “TeeP” Polchow responded to Raven’s tweet saying “I am getting JAMMED way too often on the keep lately, maybe think about reducing the drop rate.” Since Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island are so small, players can find Radar Jammers as loot much easier than they can on a larger map like Caldera. While the radius of the Field Upgrade was reduced, that does nothing if there is a Radar Jammer set up in every corner of the map.

Perhaps with more time, Raven will look at reducing the drop rate of the Radar Jammers in Warzone. While some fans want them removed entirely, that doesn’t seem likely for the duration of Season 4.
