Riot Games teased a Volibear rework for League of Legends for the past few months, finally revealing it through a recent livestream event. As the thunderous demigod was recently on the Public Beta Environment (PBE), players had plenty of feedback for the updated champion. Riot listened, and it is now ready to release improvements through the live server for patch 10.11.
Champion Designer Nathan Lutz shared the updates in a stream of tweets this past week. On May 13, he gave some tips to players who are trying to learn Volibear on PBE. This in turn gave users a platform to share their concerns and any bugs they encountered in the game. Lutz said he even played custom games with fans while responding to players and fixing bugs.

Once May 15 rolled around, changes for the PBE were submitted. These included base AD reduction, damage reduction, and more. Visual updates on animations are in the works as well.
Lutz has since provided a substantial list of Volibear changes to fans that are scheduled to be released after the next PBE deploy.
Hey bear fans, thanks so much for all the love you've been showing us after trying Volibear on the PBE. Below is a list of changes we've made largely thanks to your feedback, so please keep it coming! Everything on this list will be playable in-game after the next PBE deploy. pic.twitter.com/yHDJGRcFdb

Visual and balance changes and bug fixes
The updates seem to list some visual changes on Volibear, including his chest-pounding animation and roar. Some other updates include changes in Captain Volibear’s loading-screen art, in-game fur tint, and “punch” animations. Additionally, they have improved texture quality and animation transitions.
Other than that, they also balanced his abilities and passive. His passive attack speed received an increase to 5% from 3%. Additionally, his base Attack Damage has been reduced. After some feedback from a follower, Lutz explained they determined his ult update to be too strong, so they reverted the change.
His E also now briefly grants vision when it strikes the ground. His Q is back to “snapping” to monsters, and its “CC reset” now triggers if interrupted.
Of course, Volibear will experience a variety of bugs as it’s a newly reworked champion with kinks to fix. The development team has worked on a few bugs that have been pointed out, such as his E and R AP ratios not matching their tooltips. Additionally, they have fixed a few sound effects and attack animation bugs.
These updates will be available on Tuesday at noon PDT. If all goes well, Riot Games will push Volibear out with upcoming patch 10.11. Let us know your thoughts on the Volibear rework by commenting below!
