This week on Showstopper, G2 Esports coach Neil “neilzinho” Finlay joins host Yinsu Collins and special guest host RyanCentral for a special VCT Champions preview episode.
nielzinho, Yinsu and RyanCentral go over each group and share their predictions on who’s making it to the playoffs and who’s heading to the airport early. Are Sentinels destined for glory? Will Vision Strikers emerge from the shadows as a triumphant dark horse? And speaking of horses, is this Team Liquid’s tournament to win?
nielzinho also opens up about his time spent as G2’s head coach during the past year and what’s next for him career-wise. He expressed interest in pursing orgs from EU and possibly North American as well.
While nielzinho was G2’s active coach, the team qualified for one international LAN which was Masters 3: Berlin. G2 Esports failed to make it past the semifinals, losing 2-0 to Gambit. After a disappointing finish in Berlin, G2’s last hope to qualify for the first ever VCT Champions was the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier. Although G2 put in a valiant effort, they eventually fell to Guild Esports in the lower-bracket semifinals, effectively finishing their 2021 season in the Valorant Champions Tour.
