Vanguard community calls for visibility improvements in multiplayer

Less screen shaking and dust requested

The Call of Duty: Vanguard community has been extremely vocal about certain issues in the game. From wanting bugs patched to requesting some additional quality of life changes, there’s been a lot on players’ minds one month into Vanguard. That trend continued over the weekend when players started a discussion on Reddit about certain visibility issues currently plaguing Vanguard multiplayer.

Visibility was one of the major issues players had with Vanguard when it entered its beta phase. The beta for the game made it extremely difficult to see enemy players, especially on maps like Red Star, where snow covers the area. While, Sledgehammer Games attempted to fix those issues when the full game launched, the community feels there are still some things the developers can fix.

Visibility issues among chief complaints in Vanguard

The discussion surrounding this subject came up in a Reddit post, which has garnered numerous badges and nearly 1,000 upvotes at the time of publication. The post highlights two problems relating to visibility: screen shake and the smoke and dust that remains on the map for long periods of time.

Can we please please please reduce the amount of screenshake and dust effects?

The Redditor stated that smaller maps like Das Haus and Shipment make it impossible to see anything, especially when players are calling in killstreaks and launching explosives. For one, the screen shake that occurs when players are near an explosive is substantial. Players can’t even fully turn off screen shake in the settings — they can only turn it down to a minimal amount.

If that wasn’t enough, the dust and smoke left on the map during and after these explosives go off makes it difficult to see enemies. The biggest culprit is the Mortar Barrage killstreak, which leaves a tremendous amount of dust behind. The Redditor who made the post stated that it’s “barely possible to see anything” on maps with smaller areas.

The comments of this post reiterated how the community feels about the Mortar Barrage. However, one comment offered some hope, stating, “Have to think that the Season 1 patch will address this.” The current hope among players is that the upcoming Season 1 update will fix many of the issues the player base has with Vanguard. That update is set to arrive on December 9.
