It is the sixth week of the 2019 LCS Summer Split and Team SoloMid sits at 3rd place. The North American esports organization is tied with Counter Logic Gaming, behind Team Liquid and Cloud9. After losing in recent weeks to both CLG and C9, TSM will be officially promoting Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham to their main roster’s jungler position.
Akaadian as jungler
After a long process, we have decided to move forward with @akaadian as our primary Jungler for our LCS team. @TSM_grig will remain a part of #TSM, and continue to practice with both the Academy and LCS teams for the rest of the season. More details in the upcoming TSM Legends.

Akaadian originally joined the main TSM roster from the Academy team to replace Jonathan “Grig” Armao. It was reported that Grig was diagnosed with wrist issues and could not play League of Legends at a competitive level. Gabriel “Fanatiik” Saucier replaced Akaadian’s role on the TSM Academy team. After Akaadian joined the roster, the team went on to place 3rd during the 2019 LCS Spring Split and 2nd at the Spring Playoffs. The team also placed 2nd at the 2019 North America versus Europe Rift Rivals tournament.
Grig leaves TSM
The announcement tweet came with mixed reactions from TSM fans. Some said that Grig performed well in the four games he played this summer, while others mentioned Rift Rivals in response. While Grig was on TSM’s Academy team, they placed 2nd during the 2019 Spring Split and took home first at Academy Playoffs.
No statement or tweets have been published from Grig yet, so it is unsure what his role will be during the current Summer Split. Team SoloMid play their next match against Golden Guardians and OpTic Gaming, which are both tied for 5th behind TSM.
What do you think about Akaadian’s recent performance in the 2019 LCS Summer Split? And what do you think are TSM’s chances of coming out on top after this-shake up?
