Clutch Gaming announced that they have welcomed Thomas “Thinkcard” Slotkin as their new assistant coach. Thinkcard’s addition means the North American esports organization will also part ways with its former assistant coach, Earl “Rigby” Han. Thinkcard started his competitive League of Legends career as a player before alternating between coach and substitute jungler on different teams.

Thinkcard joins Clutch Gaming
Thomas “Thinkcard” Slotkin originally pursued a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at Cornell University before going professional in League of Legends. He first joined GamesterGear, substituted for Evil Geniuses and Counter Logic Gaming, and then moved to Team LoLPro. Following this, he joined Counter Logic Gaming Black but lost to Cloud9 Tempest during the 2015 NACS Summer Season Qualifier. He then joined teams like Enemy, Cloud9, FlyQuest, and Echo Fox as a coach. While on Enemy and Cloud9 Challenger, Thinkcard also competed under the organizations with the role of substitute jungler.
During Thinkcard’s last role at Echo Fox, the team achieved a 4th place finish during the 2018 NA LCS Summer split. The team made it through Summer Split Playoffs but lost to TSM in the Regional Finals to place 3rd. In October of 2018, Thinkcard posted on Twitter listing his qualifications between 2016 and 2018. He also mentioned that Echo Fox had given him permission to seek new options for the next year. Echo Fox then replaced Thinkcard with Kim “SSONG” Sang-sso as the organization’s newest Head Coach.
2019 LCS Summer Split
Thinkcard will join Head Coach Brendan “mcscrag” McGee and Assistant Coach Connor “Artemis” Doyle for the remainder of the 2019 LCS Summer Split. Clutch Gaming currently has 4 wins and 4 losses in the 2019 Summer Split. They are in 6th place but can technically be considered to also be in 3rd. This is because Team Liquid is in first and 4 teams are tied for 2nd.
Although Clutch Gaming has performed at a higher level compared to in previous seasons, the roster still has many obstacles in the way. What do you think about Thinkcard joining Clutch Gaming as an assistant coach?
