The best Welgun loadout in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5

The current submachine gun meta in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 mainly consists of the PPSh-41 (Vanguard), Armaguerra 43, and H4 Blixen. These were the three most-picked SMGs in the World Series of Warzone and the current pick rates for these weapons in Season 5 make it easy to understand why. These three SMGs feature the best dispersion of stats across the class and are some of the easiest guns to use in Warzone. However, there’s another SMG that’s just on the cusp of the meta. That gun is the Welgun, which still has a devastating loadout in Warzone.

When it was first released earlier this year, the Welgun was arguably the most popular weapon in the entire game. However, after a series of nerfs to it and buffs to other SMGs, the Welgun fell out of favor with a majority of the player base. While the gun still features a decently high pick rate in Season 5, 0.55% according to WZRanked, it’s well below several other SMGs. Though that might not change before Warzone 2 arrives, the Welgun is still worth using in Season 5, provided players use the right attachments.

• Barrel: 120mm Gawain Short
• Optic: Slate Reflector
• Stock: SA 43 Folding
• Underbarrel: Mark IV Skeletal
• Magazine: 7.62 Gorenko 40 Round Mags
• Ammunition: Subsonic
• Rear Grip: Taped Grip
• Perk 1: Acrobatic
• Perk 2: Quick

The loadout utilizes the Recoil Booster and the 120mm Gawain Short barrel to drastically increase the Welgun’s fire rate. These attachments are paired with the 7.62 Gorenko 40 Round Mags to give the Welgun a solid time-to-kill at close range.

The rest of the loadout mainly focuses on mobility, with the Taped Grip and Mark IV Skeletal helping in that area. The SA 43 Folding stock also offers some extra mobility. Acrobatic and Quick complete the loadout to further improve the Welgun’s mobility. This loadout is best-served in close quarters but can be a monster at medium-range, thanks to its nonexistent recoil and high fire rate.
