The best TAQ-M loadout in MW2

A surprising marksman rifle in Modern Warfare 2

The TAQ-M has always been seen as an inferior weapon to both the TAQ-56 and the TAQ-V in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The marksman rifle can deliver extremely high damage, but its fire rate and slow mobility are huge downsides that usually turn players off from using the weapon. If you equip the TAQ-M with the right attachments on its loadout, though, it can absolutely shred enemies in MW2.

Though the TAQ-M is classified as a marksman rifle, players can think of it more as a battle rifle. It’s a semi-auto weapon instead of a bolt-action like the SP-R 208 and SA-B 50. This means players can fire the weapon as fast as they can press the firing trigger. Essentially, players themselves determine how the TAQ-M performs; if they can hit their shots, the weapon can be a monster. However, if they don’t, they’ll be taken out within the blink of an eye.

If you want to ensure you’re the one killing enemies in the killfeed, you want to equip the best loadout possible for the TAQ-M.

Best TAQ-M loadout in MW2

For my TAQ-M loadout, I will be focusing on mobility more than anything else. The TAQ-M already has fantastic accuracy, and a few mobility attachments won’t reduce that accuracy enough for players to notice. Basically, I am trying to turn the TAQ-M into a slower assault rifle.

  • Muzzle: Polarfire-S
  • Laser: FSS OLE-V Laser
  • Optic: Aim OP-V4
  • Magazine: 15 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: Demo Cleanshot Grip

I begin the loadout with the Polarfire-S muzzle, which is a suppressor that offers extra damage range, bullet velocity, and recoil control at the cost of ADS speed. However, you can immediately get that mobility back plus more with the FSS OLE-V Laser and Demo Cleanshot Grip. Those attachments improve ADS speed and sprint-to-fire time to give players a better chance against enemies at close-mid range.

Finally, there is the 15 Round Mag to give players wiggle room during longer gunfights and the Aim OP-V4, which is the best scope for mid-range engagements and will make the TAQ-M feel like more of a rifle.

As a final note, you can use the TAQ-M in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
