The best Stoner 63 loadout in Black Ops Cold War Season 3

This light machine gun received a huge nerf that changed its top loadout

In Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there were several weapons on the chopping block for weapon tuning. The full update can be found in a previous article — however, fans of the Stoner 63, and all light machine guns for that matter, should probably look away.

The Stoner 63 was one of the weapons that was hit the hardest by the Season 3 weapon tuning. Treyarch clearly noticed that this weapon has dominated the LMG category and multiplayer matches since Black Ops Cold War launched.

While it’s not what it once was, the Stoner 63 is still, arguably, the best LMG. And it features a top loadout similar to the one that enraged players prior to Season 3.

One of the most rage-inducing moments in Call of Duty is when a player is bested by an LMG. These are always the bane of existence for some in multiplayer and they continually grow stronger year after year. The Stoner 63 was the embodiment of that pattern in Black Ops Cold War.

Thankfully, for fans of the Stoner, Treyarch didn’t make it completely unusable in Season 3. Though a player’s Stoner 63 loadout needs some adjusting, one loadout still exists that can make enemies rage quit in a heartbeat.

  • Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
  • Barrel: 20.7″ Match Grade
  • Optic: AN/PVS-4 Thermal
  • Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
  • Handle: Airborne Elastic Wrap

Fans should prepare for some interesting death comms when using this loadout. Since the Season 3 update nerfed the Stoner 63’s damage range, vertical recoil and ADS time, those three areas are addressed in the loadout.

The Agency Suppressor helps with vertical recoil and keeps players off the radar when firing. This recoil is further assisted by the Field Agent Grip, which is a necessary attachment for the Stoner 63.

For damage range, the 20.7″ Match Grade barrel takes care of any deficiencies by increasing it by 100%. The last area of concern is the slow ADS time, which is canceled out with the Airborne Elastic Wrap.

The pièce de résistance of the loadout is the AN/PVS-4 Thermal sight. This sight allows players to see enemies glowing on the map so that they can mow down opponents with ease. It can be a bit situational, however, so other sights that work well include the Visiontech 2x or Axial Arms 3x.
