There are only four weapons in the battle rifle category of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Of those four weapons, only a few see any real use. The TAQ-V is easily the best battle rifle in the game, with the FTAC Recon and Lachmann 762 following behind. That just leaves the SO-14, which rarely gets seen in the kill feed of multiplayer matches unless players are going for Polyatomic/Orion camo. However, despite the low usage numbers for the SO-14, this battle rifle actually has a decent loadout in Modern Warfare 2.
The SO-14 doesn’t have many bullets in each magazine by default, but players can increase that as they level the gun up. Once they do that, they can start to fully understand the underrated power of the SO-14. It’s a two-shot headshot at most ranges and players can use it like a heavier assault rifle with the right attachments.
Best SO-14 loadout in Modern Warfare 2
The biggest buff we need to give the SO-14, aside from a larger magazine size, is added recoil control. When in fully-auto mode, the SO-14 tends to kick straight up in the air, which makes it extremely difficult to control at range. Luckily, players can boost their accuracy in addition to damage range to craft the best version of the SO-14 in multiplayer.
- Muzzle: Lockshot KT85
- Barrel: 22″ Boremaster Barrel
- Optic: AIM OP-V4
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip
- Magazine: 25 Round Mag
This loadout is started by the Lockshot KT85, which increases both horizontal and vertical recoil control, and 22″ Boremaster Barrel, also boosting recoil control in addition to damage range and bullet velocity. The Merc Foregrip gives players additional hip-fire accuracy and control to make close-mid range gunfights more manageable. Finally, we have the AIM OP-V4 optic, which is great for mid-range fights, and the 25 Round Mag to give players breathing room when in a long engagement.
