Out of the current crop of assault rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the Lachmann 556 falls right in the middle of the crowd. It isn’t the best assault rifle in the game but it also isn’t the worst, which leaves it in a weird spot. Perhaps a buff for the Lachmann 556 will come down in Season 6, but for now, players can throw on its best loadout in MW2 to give it a little bit of an edge.
The Lachmann 556 can be unlocked by reaching level 13 with the Lachman 762 in MW2. That’s a herculean task, as the 762 isn’t the best weapon to use. Once players get over that hump, though, they’ll have access to the 556. While not as strong as some of the other assault rifles in MW2, the Lachmann 556 can be a powerful gun that might surprise some players. Although, this is only possible if players equip the best set of attachments for the AR.

Best Lachmann 556 loadout in MW2
Like many other weapons in MW2, the Lachmann 556 benefits from only having three or four attachments on its loadout. Many of the attachments in MW2 hurt the gun more than they help it, so the fewer attachments, the better the gun performs. Of course, players will still need a few attachments to improve the gun.
- Muzzle: ZLR Talon 5
- Barrel: 15.9” Lachmann RAPP Barrel
- Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot
- Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
- Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
The loadout begins with the ZLR Talon 5 muzzle, which is a suppressor that boosts damage range, bullet velocity, and recoil control. The 15.9″ Lachmann RAPP Barrel accomplishes all of this as well, giving the Lachmann a huge boost.
The attachments are rounded out by the Cronen Mini Red Dot, which is perfect for any distance, the FSS Sharkfin 90 underbarrel, increasing aiming idle stability, and the 5.56 High Velocity ammunition for extra bullet velocity.
As a final note, you can use the Lachmann 556 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
