The best Chimera loadout in MW2

A solid assault rifle in MW2

The Chimera was added in Season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and since then, it hasn’t been seen much in the killfeed of multiplayer matches. While the Chimera is a fine assault rifle, it’s never been stronger than others in its class. However, with the right loadout, you can make the Chimera competitive with any other weapon in MW2.

Just like in previous games where it’s been an available weapon, the Chimera has an integrated suppressor, meaning its shots are silent when fired by default. It also comes equipped with Subsonic ammo, which makes it so no skull appears over an enemy when you kill them. This allows you to be a little more creative when it comes to the Chimera’s five attachments.

Since the Chimera is more compact, players have found it easier to use the gun as more of an SMG rather than an AR. While the Chimera will still be effective at mid-range, its close-range prowess will drastically increase using our loadout.

  • Laser: VLK LZR 7mW
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro/Slimline Pro
  • Stock: Ravage-8
  • Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Flash Grip

With the exception of the underbarrel, all of the primary attachments on this loadout are meant to increase mobility. Specifically, players will see a huge bump in their aim down sights speed and sprint-to-fire time by using the VLK LZR 7mW laser, Ravage-8 stock, and Bruen Flash Grip.

The VX Pineapple is in place to give players extra recoil control and stability, but it can be tuned to offer more mobility as well. There’s also the optic, which is a classic red dot. However, if you want to get into more mid-range gunfights, I recommend a 2x zoom optic.

As a final note, you can use the Chimera in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
