The current offering of shotguns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is fairly average across the board. There’s not really one that stands out from the crowd, in either direction. Unlike the original Modern Warfare 2, there is no Model 1887 in this game to prop the shotgun class up above and over other classes. However, if I had to pick one of the most consistent shotguns to use in MW2, it would be the Bryson 890, which has a terrific loadout for multiplayer.
The Bryson 890 is a semi-automatic shotgun, which differs from most of the shotgun class. With this firing nature, the Bryson 890 can shoot much faster than other shotguns in MW2, giving players an edge in terms of overall time-to-kill. In order to take full advantage of that time-to-kill, players will need a specific set of attachments for the Bryson 890. These attachments will allow the shotgun to improve its damage range so it can kill enemies faster.
Best Bryson 890 loadout in MW2
I’ll be focusing on damage range for this Bryson 890 loadout. While players will suffer some losses to accuracy, that shouldn’t be an issue as long as players are keeping their gunfights close.
- Muzzle:Â Bryson Improved Choke
- Barrel:Â 21.5″ Bryson Shredder
- Laser:Â STOVL Tac Laser
- Stock:Â Sawed Off Mod
- Guard:Â DEMO X50 Tactical Pump
The first two attachments on this loadout is where we see a drastic increase in damage range. Both the muzzle and barrel give players extra damage range and a tighter pellet spread, meaning they need to be a little more accurate for the chance to kill an enemy quicker.
The rest of the loadout is focused on mobility and boosting fire rate. The STOVL Tac Lser boosts mobility while also giving players some increased hip-fire accuracy while the Sawed Off Mod improves mobility all around. Finally, the DEMO X50 Tactical Pump further increases mobility as well as rechambering speed so players can get shots off faster.
As a final note, you can use the Bryson 890 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
