After what feels like forever, during the finals for Final Kombat that took place on March 8, we got our first gameplay look at the last character of the Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 11, Spawn! The character releases March 24, but he will arrive in early access sooner.
Spawn gameplay at last
So much love has been put into this character, and this trailer is chock-full of references to the character’s appearances in other media, even including getting veteran actor Keith David back to voice the character. David previously voiced Spawn in the HBO animated series of the same name from 1997 and is as synonymous with the character as Kevin Conroy is to Batman. There is also a look at Spawn’s greatest nemesis, Malebolgia, at the end of the trailer, dragging Spawn back to Hell.
The trailer ends with Spawn’s Fatal Blow and first Fatality, as well as two of his possible variations. Spawn has an arsenal of guns, swords, and his signature chains at his disposal that can perform grabs and setups. Spawn can also turn invisible and is able to glide using his cape.
Spawn will be available on March 17 in early access for those that have already purchased the Kombat Pass and will also contain the Matinee Skin Pack with costumes for Kotal Kahn, Jacqui Briggs, and Erron Black.
Also, if you aren’t sick of seeing Jacqui already after Final Kombat, she will be receiving a second skin on the same day, “Hellspawn Jacqui,” a Spawn-themed skin.
Spawn looks fantastic, and knowing the trend of DLC characters in Mortal Kombat 11, you can expect him to be an absolute powerhouse on release. There has been no information on any other skins or costume accessories, but given the character’s long and storied history between comics and action figures, there are plenty of great options to choose from.
You can play Spawn early on March 17 by purchasing the Kombat Pack for $39.99 that also includes the previous DLC characters Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, the Terminator, Sindel, and the Joker. Rumors have been circulating for quite some time on a Kombat Pack 2, with rumored characters ranging from Fujin and Rain to Michael Myers from Halloween and Ash from Evil Dead. However, there has been no official news of a second Kombat Pack as of this writing.
